Advancing employer partnerships, workforce readiness, and sustainable pathways from skills to opportunity

The programme will convene employers, MSMEs, policymakers, development partners, industry leaders, fellows, and alumni for a day of structured engagement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s workforce pipeline and accelerating the transition from education to employment. Scheduled for 14 May 2026, the Employer Forum is conceived not simply as a space for dialogue, but as a practical platform for recruitment, collaboration, and commitment-building in support of the next phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme.

At the centre of the day is a shared recognition that Nigeria produces thousands of ambitious, capable graduates every year, yet too many continue to face barriers in moving from academic success into meaningful workplace contribution. NJFP was created to respond to that challenge by connecting trained, high-potential young Nigerians with host organisations ready to invest in talent development. NJFP 2.0 builds on the lessons and successes of the first phase, strengthening the model and expanding its relevance for employers, sectors, and the broader economy. This event provides a direct opportunity for stakeholders to engage with that next phase, understand what has improved, and take part in shaping its impact.

The day’s programme will feature Registration and Employer Networking, where delegates will enter a structured environment designed to encourage relevant introductions, sector-based engagement, and early access to the NJFP Talent Marketplace. This will be followed by Structured Employer–Fellow Matching and a parallel CV Clinic, enabling employers to interact directly with pre-screened fellows in facilitated sessions, while fellows and alumni receive one-on-one support from HR professionals to strengthen their career documentation and readiness. Together, these elements create a practical bridge between employers seeking capable talent and young professionals seeking credible pathways into work.

A key highlight of the convening is the Panel on Workforce Development, which will bring together voices from government, the private sector, and development institutions to examine issues of graduate readiness, employer responsibility, talent pipeline strategy, and the conditions required to make public-private workforce partnerships more effective in Nigeria. The Interactive Q&A session will deepen this exchange by giving employers who have previously hosted fellows an opportunity to share direct experiences, practical lessons, and honest reflections on what the model has achieved in real workplace settings. These conversations are intended to move beyond theory and provide grounded insight into what workforce development looks like in practice.

The programme also recognises the central role of smaller businesses in national growth. Through the MSME Host Acceleration Segment, small and medium enterprises will receive simplified guidance on how to participate in the programme, including onboarding expectations, compliance support, and collective engagement pathways that make the model more accessible to businesses without large HR structures. Later in the day, Lunch and Job Fair Networking will create additional space for employers, fellows, alumni, and partners to continue conversations, explore opportunities, and build relationships across sectors.

Another important feature of the event is the Alumni and Fellows Fireside Chat, where fellows and alumni will speak directly about their experiences in the programme, the value of structured workplace exposure, and the ways NJFP has shaped their development and career direction. Their perspectives will provide an important human dimension to the day, reminding participants that workforce policy and employer engagement ultimately translate into real lives, real skills, and real professional journeys.

The programme will conclude with an Employer Recognition Ceremony, during which outstanding host organisations will be celebrated across four categories for their measurable commitment to workforce development in Nigeria. These recognitions will honour organisations whose leadership has helped demonstrate what effective talent development can look like across both large institutions and emerging enterprises. In addition, employers will complete structured fellowship slot pledge forms during a dedicated session, with commitments aggregated live in the room, validated after the event, and tracked through to placement. This ensures that the day closes not only with goodwill, but with visible, measurable action.

Your participation in this convening will underscore your organisation’s commitment to building a more inclusive, responsive, and future-ready Nigerian workforce. It is an opportunity to engage directly with one of the country’s most substantive workforce transition platforms, to contribute to the design of future talent pipelines, and to stand alongside other leaders who recognise that graduate employment is both a social priority and an economic imperative. Together, through NJFP 2.0, we can strengthen the bridge between skills and opportunity, expand employer confidence in Nigerian talent, and turn workforce development into a shared engine for innovation, productivity, and national growth.
